Animal Cruelty Investigation Launched

   An investigation into allegations of animal cruelty was launched last week after a Loretto resident discovered someone had thrown hot oil on his hunting dogs.

   The incident was reported by James Kevin Roberson on Wednesday. Roberson summoned Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies to 737 Fairview Road, Loretto after he made the disturbing discovery.

   Roberson told deputies that he went to a kennel where he housed his coon dogs, only to find that someone had poured hot grease over them.

   Roberson requested a keep watch be placed on the property.

   Investigation into the crime is currently continuing through the department’s Criminal Investigation Division. Anyone who has information pertinent to the investigation is urged to contact the department at 762-3626.
